SOMELIKEITHOTBROWN RETURNS A WINNER IN BATTAGLIA
FLORENCE, Ky. (Feb. 15, 2019) – A smart, measured ride by jockey Rafael Hernandez put Somelikeithotbrown in the winner’s circle of the John Battaglia Memorial Stakes (listed) Friday at Turfway Park. The race was the colt’s first stakes victory and his first start since he finished third in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (G1) November 2. Read more.

FLORENCE, Ky. (Feb. 14, 2019) – Jockey Luan Machado made his way to the winner’s circle five times at Turfway Park Thursday, scoring for five different trainers and five different owners. Riding eight of the night’s nine races, Machado, 24, won the first four races and the sixth race. Read more.

TURFWAY TO HONOR ACTIVE DUTY AND VETERAN SERVICE MEMBERS FEB. 16
FLORENCE, Ky. (Feb. 7, 2019) – Turfway Park will welcome active duty and veteran members of the U.S. Armed Forces to the track Saturday, Feb. 16., for an evening of recognition, appreciation, special guests and fun at the races. The event begins with the first race at 6:15 p.m. and concludes with the last race, about 9:40 p.m. Read more.

 

Cincinnati Trophy winner IVAIVA EARNS FIRST BLACK TYPE IN CINCINNATI TROPHY STAKES
FLORENCE, Ky. (Feb. 1, 2019) –  All Iva needed was room to run, and when jockey Julio Garcia found it for her, the filly dug deep through the stretch to score by 1 1/4 lengths in Friday’s $50,000 Cincinnati Trophy Stakes at Turfway Park. . . . The win was the third in four starts and the first black type score for the Wesley Ward-trained daughter of Scat Daddy. Read more.

Midnight Pleasure wins the Forego StakesMIDNIGHT PLEASURE GOES LAST TO FIRST IN FOREGO STAKES
FLORENCE, Ky. (Jan. 18, 2019) – Midnight Pleasure charged from last to first in the $50,000 Forego Stakes Friday at Turfway Park, gobbling up the last half-furlong to win by a neck in a four-way rush to the wire. Mr Ashley, off at 67-1, was second, a nose better than third-place Torazo, who finished a neck ahead of Lanier in fourth. Read more.

Virginia TormeyJOCKEY VIRGINIA TORMEY SCORES FIRST CAREER WIN
FLORENCE, Ky. (Jan. 18, 2019) – Jockey Virginia Tormey, 23, earned her first career victory Friday when she guided Miss Chuckie H to win the first race at Turfway Park by 8 1/2 lengths.

Breaking from post seven, Tormey positioned Miss Chuckie H just outside the leader before taking over on the turn of the 6 ½ furlong test for older fillies and mares. The win came with Tormey’s ninth mount. . . . “You can’t beat this feeling,” said Tormey. Read more.
