DAC REPEATS IN PRAIRIE BAYOU AT TURFWAY PARK
FLORENCE, Ky., (Dec. 17, 2016) – Putting together a perfectly timed ride in the rain, Dac and jockey Rodney Prescott took the $50,000 Prairie Bayou Stakes at Turfway Park Saturday for the second straight year, running down Luck of the Kitten to win by head. Enterprising finished third, another 2-1/4 lengths back.
Trailing all but one or two horses into the backstretch, Prescott broke from the rail and saved ground from the start of the 1 1/16-mile race all the way to the top of the final turn, where he kicked out and came flying seven wide. Luck of the Kitten, who broke first before settling to stalk the :23.64 and :47.27 pace set by Designed for War, took the lead midway on the turn, but Dac hooked him inside the 16th pole and wore him down as the wire loomed. Final time was 1:42.76 over the fast Polytrack.
Wayward Kitten completed the Superfecta, followed by Cerro (IRE), Derby Express, Dynamic Strike, Chief Kitten, Croninthebarbarian, Designed for War and Richie the Bull. Crewman and Big Squeeze were scratched by their trainers; Allidoisdreamofyou did not draw in and was scratched.
Sent off at 3-1, Dac paid $8.20, $.20 and $3 for his repeat performance.
A 5-year-old gelding by Distorted Humor out of Corrazona, by El Gran Senor, Dac is owned by Amanda and Jose C. Sarinana’s Sarinana Racing LLC, trained by Scott Brumley and was bred in Kentucky by Wertheimer & Frere. The Prairie Bayou win improved Dac’s record to 6-2-2 from 24 starts and his purse earnings to $205,755.
