Pure Romance Embraces Sponsorship of Turfway Park’s Bourbonette Oaks
FLORENCE, Ky. (March 14, 2014) – Pure Romance LLC has signed on as title sponsor of the Bourbonette Oaks at Turfway Park, the Northern Kentucky track’s premier race for 3-year-old Thoroughbred fillies and an official qualifier for the Kentucky Oaks, the distaff counterpart to the Kentucky Derby.
The $125,000 Pure Romance Bourbonette Oaks, a Grade 3 race covering a mile, was established in 1983 as a companion to the Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati Spiral Stakes, also Grade 3. Both races run the same day, traditionally six weeks before the Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby weekend. This year the Bourbonette Oaks and the Spiral Stakes are scheduled for Sat., March 22.
Pure Romance, a direct seller of relationship enhancement products, was founded in 1993 by founder and chairwoman Patty Brisben. With the support of her son, CEO Chris Cicchinelli, Pure Romance has transformed from a small mother-and-son business to an international powerhouse. With offices in Loveland and downtown Cincinnati, the company has in recent years expanded its network of in-home sales consultants beyond the United States into Australia, South Africa and Puerto Rico.
In 2006 Brisben established the Patty Brisben Foundation for Women’s Sexual Health, a non-profit charitable organization focused on improving the quality of women’s sexual health through research, education and community involvement.
“We are delighted to have the opportunity to partner with Pure Romance,” said Turfway Park general manager Chip Bach. “Their company is a perfect fit for the Bourbonette, and, like our partnership with Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati for the Spiral Stakes, their support demonstrates the value that international companies with local ties place on racing at Turfway Park. We look forward to a long and exciting relationship.”
The Bourbonette Oaks has produced numerous standout fillies, including 2006 Kentucky Oaks (G1) winner Lemons Forever; Canada’s 2007 Horse of the Year, Sealy Hill; and recent Grade 1 winners In Lingerie, Hot Cha Cha, Panty Raid, and Summer Soiree.
“We love the opportunity to give back to the community and this really is the perfect event. Like the Bourbonette Oaks, Pure Romance is all about fun and entertainment. Not to mention, with recent winners like In Lingerie and Summer Soiree, it seemed only fitting to have Pure Romance represented there,” said Cicchinelli.
As a qualifier for the Kentucky Oaks, the Bourbonette Oaks offers 50 points to the winner, 20 to the runner-up, 10 to the third-place finisher, and five to the filly that finishes fourth. The race’s point structure mirrors that of the Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati Spiral Stakes, a designated qualifier for the Kentucky Derby (G1).
The Pure Romance Bourbonette Oaks will go as the 10th race on Turfway’s 12-race Spiral Stakes day program.
Tickets for Spiral Stakes day at Turfway range from general admission at $10 to reserved seating starting at $25. At $175, the day’s top ticket is the Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati Spiral Stakes VIP Tent presented by Dillard’s. More information is available at www.turfway.com.
