Bootsy Collins to Headline Turfway Park's New Year's Eve Celebration

FLORENCE, Ky., Nov. 26, 2012 – Rock and Roll Hall of Fame master of funk Bootsy Collins returns to the Greater Cincinnati stage on New Year's Eve at Turfway Park, headlining the Thoroughbred racetrack's annual end-of-year bash.

The event, the Bootsy Collins New Year's Eve Funk Bash, benefits the Bootsy Collins Foundation. The Bootsy Collins Foundation offers opportunities for the underserved population to gain access to music education and quality of life initiatives. The show at Turfway Park will be Collins's first public performance in the Greater Cincinnati area in 25 years.

As a solo artist in the U.S., Collins has ranked on the Billboard charts 30 times and earned two gold records. He won a Grammy for Best Music Video in 2001 for his work on Fatboy Slim's Weapon of Choice, which featured the dancing talent of Academy Award winner Christopher Walken. Collins is credited for music and/or lyrics on 145 albums and 14 soundtracks that ranked on the Billboard 200, and 79 records that credit him for music and/or lyrics, not including his own or those with Parliament/Funkadelic, have gone gold or platinum. Collins returned in 2011 with his album Tha Funk Capital of the World, which ranked on the Billboard R&B Albums chart. Collins currently tours doing shows.

Party-goers may choose from several options to experience the Bootsy Collins New Year's Eve Funk Bash. The VIP top ticket is $125, which includes a meet-and-greet reception with Collins and his wife, Patti, VIP seating for the concert, deluxe buffet, open bar, party favors, and a bottle of champagne. Other reservations offer buffet dining, concert seating in designated sections, favors and a champagne toast. The track also offers specials on domestic bottled beer, well drinks, and champagne. General admission and parking are free.

Live Thoroughbred racing begins at 3:00 p.m. on New Year's Eve. The Bootsy Collins New Year's Eve Funk Bash begins at 5:30 p.m. and runs through 1:45 a.m. A DJ will provide the evening's soundtrack between races, with Collins taking Turfway's Willis Music Stage after live racing concludes.

Several hotels near the track are offering overnight packages that include shuttles to and from Turfway and breakfast.
