FLORENCE, KY . . . December 4, 2008 . . . Handicappers will have plenty of options in the $50,000 My Charmer Stakes at Turfway this Saturday, as a dozen fillies and mares with a range of running styles line up for the 1 1/16 mile race.

Kiss With a Twist has four wins, four seconds, and four thirds from 18 starts, including a 2-for-4 record on all-weather surfaces. She can close or sit just off the pace, as she did while finishing third in the Grade III Cardinal Handicap on the yielding turf at Churchill. That race covered 1 1/8-miles, so the return to Polytrack and the shorter distance may prove her edge in the My Charmer.

Early speed likely will come from 3-year-olds A to the Croft and Champagne Taste. Trained by Ken McPeek, A to the Croft comes in to the My Charmer fresh off an allowance win at the distance at Churchill Downs. She has finished in the money in three of five all-weather starts but has yet to notch an all-weather win. Hot apprentice Brandon Meier has the mount.

Champagne Taste set all the pace and drew off to win Mountaineer's 1 1/16-mile Autumn Leaves Stakes by 7 1/4 lengths. In her previous start, an optional allowance mile at Mountaineer, she took the lead after stalking for half and drew off to win by 10 1/4. Rex Stokes III rides for trainer Akiko Gothard.

Although Absolutely Cindy is known for her closing kick, she sat off the pace last month to finish third in an optional allowance on the turf at Churchill. She briefly took the lead in the stretch in that race so may also benefit from the cut back to 1 1/16 miles. 'Cindy has two wins on Polytrack, a maiden special at Keeneland and the Battaglia Memorial against males at Turfway, though she was off the board in two graded stakes on Polytrack at Keeneland. Breeder/owner/trainer Keith Kinmon has named Julio Felix to ride.

Also entered for the My Charmer are Silver Moonshine, making her first start since August (jockey Rafael Hernandez); Cruzada Americana (BRZ) (John McKee); Callie's Joy (Tracy Hebert); Lauren's Tizzy (Richard Monterrey); Cryptoquip, second in the Ohio Distaff last month (Luis Martinez Jr.); Ballado's Thunder (Larry Melancon); Altered State (Bill Troilo); and Marie Rossa (Luis Garcia).

The My Charmer runs as the 11th of 12 races on Saturday’s card. First post is 1:10pm.
