FLORENCE, KY . . . February 16, 2004 . . . Six Northern Kentucky charitable organizations will be the real winners March 13 as the Northern Kentucky Leadership Foundation and Turfway Park present the third annual Charity Night at the Tables, a night of casino-style fun at Turfway Park. The event is part of festivities surrounding the $500,000 Lane’s End Stakes, a Grade 2 Kentucky Derby prep race set for March 20 at Turfway Park.

Sponsored by Fifth Third Bank of Northern Kentucky, this year’s Charity Night at the Tables benefits

· Holly Hill Children’s Services
· The Steinford Toy Foundation
· Parish Kitchen
· Family Nurturing Center
· Children’s Home of Northern Kentucky
· Campbell Lodge Boys’ Home

The six participating charities were announced by Jeff Eger, chair of the 2004 event planning committee.

At Charity Night at the Tables, players will use play money to try their luck at Monte Carlo games and designate their “winnings” to one or more of the participating charities. The charities’ order of finish will be announced at the Call to the Post Luncheon on Thursday, March 18, when a representative from each group will try to pick the winner of the Lane’s End Stakes. The charity choosing the winning horse (or the horse that finishes highest among those chosen) receives $10,000. The remaining five charities receive $2,000 each.

New to Charity Night at the Tables this year is Turfway Texas Hold ‘em, a popular poker game that will net one of the charities an extra $1,000. Fifty players will be selected at random to play in the Turfway Texas Hold ‘em tournament.

Celebrity dealers and a MIX 94.1 DJ will be on hand for the evening’s fun, set for 7:00 to 11:30 p.m. at the track.

Tickets for Charity Night at the Tables include a buffet, beer, wine, soft drinks, and chips for the gaming tables. Tickets are $50 per person and are available by calling Ruth Eger at (859) 578-6388. Registration for a chance to play in the Turfway Texas Hold ‘em tournament is $10 at the door.

Net proceeds from Charity Night at the Tables benefit the Northern Kentucky Leadership Foundation. Founded in 1992, the foundation promotes three leadership development programs for the Northern Kentucky/Greater Cincinnati area: Regional Youth Leadership, sponsored by Toyota and marking its 10th year; Teacher Leadership Northern Kentucky, sponsored by Procter & Gamble and now in its 5th year; and Leadership Northern Kentucky, sponsored by the Cinergy Foundation and Bilz Insurance and celebrating its 25th anniversary.
