FLORENCE, KY . . . January 25, 2006 . . . Three parties open to the public will add fun and maybe a little romance to February at Turfway Park, including the 5th annual WEBN Stakes Party and a boost for Cupid.

Cincinnati rock and roll radio leader WEBN will bring the 5th annual WEBN Stakes party to Turfway Park from noon to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 4. The party coincides with the WEBN Stakes, a mile race for three-year-olds that is the second local race leading to the track’s Kentucky Derby prep, the Grade II Lane’s End Stakes in March.

Admission to the WEBN party is by ticket only. Tickets are free and available from WEBN via on-air giveaway and by random giveaway on Friday nights during live racing at Turfway Park.

Always a rowdy affair, the WEBN Stakes party this year features the high-energy rock and roll of Dangerous Jim and the Slims, games and giveaways, grazing food, and $5 logo mugs that can be refilled with Bud or Bud Light for $1. WEBN personalities will broadcast live from Turfway throughout the party. New this year, partygoers can win prizes by playing the tournament edition of the Breeders’ Cup video arcade game.

Also new this year is additional sponsorship by Nicky’s World Famous Pizzeria in Hebron. Seligman Distributing will provide free O’Doul’s non-alcoholic beer for all designated drivers. at Turfway
Also on the party scene during live racing at Turfway is a pre-Valentine’s cupidParty presented by, the self-described “world leader in speed dating.” Slated for Thursday, February 9, in the Turfway Park Racing Club, the event draws singles looking to mix and mingle during eight dates lasting eight minutes each. Appetizers are provided; cash bar is available. The cost is $35; advance registration is required via The cupidParty begins at 6:00 p.m.

Add a pub crawl for good measure
Partygoers can return to Turfway the next night, Friday, February 10, for a pub crawl sponsored by KJ’s on Buttermilk Pike in Crescent Springs, Kentucky. Crawlers will catch the shuttle at KJ’s at 6:30 p.m., enjoy live racing at Turfway, and return to KJ’s at 9:30 p.m. Seating is limited; the $10 charge includes the cover at KJ’s, shuttle service, drink specials, and the Turfway Park racing program.
