FLORENCE, KY . . . December 1, 2005 . . . Hot Storm already has one stakes win over Turfway Park’s Polytrack surface and will try to make it two in Saturday’s $50,000 Holiday Inaugural Stakes. She will be joined by 11 rivals in the race, a six-furlong contest for fillies and mares three years old and up.

In her two most recent starts, Hot Storm won Turfway’s Weekend Delight Stakes in September with a pacesetting effort and followed with stalking win in the mud at Churchill Downs in early November. Trained by Dallas Stewart, she is graded-stakes placed and has finished out of the money only twice in 10 tries this year, both times finishing fourth. She has compiled that record at nine different tracks. Jesus Castanon will be aboard Hot Storm for the Holiday Inaugural, as he was for the Weekend Delight.

Darn That Girl has no races over Polytrack in her 10-race career, but she is stabled at Turfway and posted three bullets in four works over the track in November. She won her most recent race, an allowance sprint during the Keeneland fall meet, after a three-month layoff. Casey Chavez will ride for trainer John Good.

Brett’s Favrette will try to regain the winning form that brought her three wins in a row at Turfway, including the Valdale Stakes last February. The Holiday Inaugural will be her second race back after a six-month layoff; in her first race back, she finished fourth last month in an allowance-optional claimer at Churchill Downs. Trainer Greg Foley stables Brett’s Favrette at Turfway, where in October she posted three bullet works over Polytrack. Dean Sarvis has the mount.

Turf runners often take to Polytrack, and the Holiday Inaugural has drawn two who have spent all or nearly all of their careers on the grass: Mocha Queen, who posted a bullet work at Turfway on November 28; and Tara’s Touch, who won the Grade 3 Royal Northern at Woodbine last summer. Tara’s Touch finished seventh in her only race on Polytrack but has since gained Polytrack experience on the training track at Keeneland. Rodney Prescott has the mount on Mocha Queen. Rafael Mojica Jr. will ride Tara’s Touch.

Completing the Holiday Inaugural field are Initforthekandy (jockey William Fox Jr.); Goldleafed Mirror, who will race without blinkers (Eddie Martin Jr.); Rich Find (Bill Troilo); Tank Grrrl (Perry Ouzts); Candybedandy (Phil Teator); Dewey’s Trick (Dean Butler); and Lady Dynasty (Willie Martinez).

First post Saturday is 1:10 p.m. Eastern. Admission and parking at Turfway are free.
