Mike Battaglia's Picks

THURSDAY, MARCH 21 (Preview)

Race 1
TIZ BEAUTY has the speed to make the lead and is capable of the wire-to-wire score tonight. TENACIOUS SALLY loves this track and drops back to the bottom. She will be tough to beat. BELA MENINA was dull last out but is capable of better.

Race 2
NYMUE'S TREASURE drops to the bottom after a couple of decent efforts against better. She gets the nod with Machado back aboard for Grant Hofmans. LITTLE MISS AMY stopped badly last out at Oaklawn but she needed that race. This is her third start back after a long layoff and she also takes the class drop. CAROLINA REAPER is a contender.

Race 3
LUSTY GIT YER GUN ran poorly last out but figures to be running late in a race loaded with early speed. A return to her best would make her a winner in this one. RULELIKECLEOPATRA loves this track and comes off a solid win. She is definitely the one to beat. APPEALING JULIA should get a good trip from the outside post.

Race 4
DRAGSTER rates the edge in a fairly weak maiden claimer. KAMACHA has been off since June but drops in class for his return. AFLEET JETT is training steadily for his debut.

Race 5
SHE'S ALOTTA WOMAN comes off a solid runner-up finish at this level. She has the tactical speed to be in contention throughout and a repeat of that last performance would make her a winner in here. MORGAN'S DAVID has just one win in 21 races but drops to a career low claiming level and fits with these. LAKE GIRL is a threat.

Race 6
COPPERPLATE showed improvement last out and makes his third start back after a five-month layoff. He has a good record over the Turfway Poly and rates the edge with Franklin back aboard. KISS MY NOTE ran well in a tougher field last out. He will be tough to beat off that effort. DISORDERLY CONDUCT has been off since October when he was claimed off a winning effort. He has been training well for Kim Hammond and is a definite contender.

Race 7
GIANT HONOR has been off since October but is training steadily for Pat Huffman, whose horses have been running well this meet. He broke his maiden over this track last year and has the speed to be in contention throughout. Give him the slight edge with Malcolm Franklin picking up the mount. TALE OF FAME just missed last out in a three-horse photo. He figures to be the main competition. FAYETTE WARRIOR was dull last out but is capable of rebounding tonight.

Race 8
E Z BONUS comes off four straight runner-up efforts and appears to be in a good spot to pick up her maiden score in this one. DIVINE DIVA was three lengths behind the top pick last out and figures second best. MEAN GIRL has had only one race and could improve.

FRIDAY, MARCH 22 (Preview)

Race 1
FORERUN comes off a sharp score last out and has an excellent record at tonight's distance of five furlongs. Look for him to make it two in a row in this one. EN HANSE just missed last out and drops back in for a tag this evening. He is definitely the one to beat. MOOOSE looks best of the rest.

Race 2
BURNT BLUFF has shown improvement in his last three races. He should get a good trip from the inside post and gets the nod in what looks like a very well matched field. THE PREDICTOR has the speed to make the lead and figures to be tough to catch. LAFLOWMYLAXBRO is always tough at this level and has to be respected.

Race 3
U S CITIZEN is a 10-year-old veteran who is still running well.  He comes off two runner-up efforts and posted a recent bullet work. Give him the edge with Prescott back aboard for Kim Hammond. MONDAY CONFESSION exits the same race as the top pick. He stopped badly in that one but is capable of much better and has the speed to be dangerous. PLAIN TALES is a contender.

Race 4
CARDIAC KITTEN looked good breaking his maiden in his debut but failed to fire last out. He has been gelded since that one and is capable of regaining his winning ways for Wes Ward with Franklin picking up the mount. CEDUNA has shown improvement in each of his three races since coming off a layoff. He will be tough if he continues to improve. LUCKY BODE threw in a clunker last out but had a solid work last week and has to be respected.

Race 5
COPUS is a 10-year-old who hasn't won in quite a while but he hooks a weak field and should make the lead from the inside post. LIZZY'S LURE is the one to beat. NORTHERN EMPIRE rates a chance.

Race 6
MUSTANG CAT is a lightly raced 4-year-old who comes off a nice maiden win. He has been a consistent performer and can make it two in a row tonight. TOMAHAWK KITTEN has just one win in 18 starts but just missed in his last two and figures to run well again in this one. SUNDAY CLOTHES has been off for over a year. He is in the capable hands of Mike Maker but may need a race.

Race 7
TRUTH BE TOLLED showed big improvement in his second start back off a layoff for Jeff Greenhill. He led all the way in that one but is capable of rating just off the pace if necessary. Look for him to make it two in a row with Lezcano back aboard. HARD TO BE GOOD was never in contention last out in a race won by his entry mate. He is capable of much better and figures to show good speed from the inside post. GALTON is a solid contender in another solid allowance race.

Race 8
VIVA PER LEI just missed last out and appears to be in a good spot to get her maiden win for Murat Sancal with McKee up. QUICKASAKITTEN and PRICKLY KITTEN are both first-timers from the Ramsey barn. Either one is capable of running well tonight. CORONELA is a definite threat.
