Adkins & Loudermilk Bring Bluegrass to Turfway This Saturday
FLORENCE, Ky. (April 2, 2014) – Bluegrass returns to Northern Kentucky Sat., April 5, at 7 p.m. as recording artists Dave Adkins and Edgar Loudermilk team up for a concert at Turfway Park.
The concert is the eighth in a series presented at Turfway by Cincinnati’s WOBO (FM 88.7).
The formation of Adkins & Loudermilk comes on the heels of Adkins’s solo project Nothing to Lose, released last month on the Mountain Fever label and described by Bluegrass Today as a “collection of songs about bad boys, scheming women and smooth whiskey.” Adkins has performed country and rock during his 12-year career but returned to bluegrass in 2010 and in 2013 was nominated in the Male Vocalist of the Year category by the Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music of America (SPBGMA).
Loudermilk has been playing guitar, bass and mandolin since the age of nine. After playing with his family’s band for 11 years, he first joined Georgia-based favorite Carolina Crossfire and then, in 2001, was hired by Rhonda Vincent & the Rage, a five-time Grammy nominee and the most awarded band in bluegrass. A year later he signed on as bass player and tenor singer for Full Circle, backing Marty Raybon. In 2007 Loudermilk joined Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out. Loudermilk’s first CD project, Roads Travelled, came out in 2011, followed by My Big Chance Tomorrow in 2013. Both projects were released by Mountain Fever Records. Loudermilk collaborated on Adkins’s Nothing to Lose as vocalist, producer, and songwriter.
Tickets for Adkins & Loudermilk at Turfway Park are $15 in advance and $20 the day of the show and may be purchased online at turfway.com or by calling WOBO at (859) 992-5775. Parking at Turfway Park is free.
