FLORENCE, Ky., Dec. 17, 2010 – The Prairie Bayou Stakes at Turfway this Saturday has drawn a full field headed by Turfway aficionado Timeless Fashion and Blue Grass Stakes (G1) winner Stately Victor. The race, for horses three years old and up, covers 1 1/8 miles and carries a $50,000 purse.

The Prairie Bayou offers Timeless Fashion much that is familiar. He thrives on Turfway's Polytrack; in nine starts here he has five wins two seconds, and a third. He has won at the Prairie Bayou distance twice in four tries, and he gets the services of regular jockey James Lopez.

Timeless Fashion last won four starts back, the Independence Day Handicap on the Mountaineer turf, but in 20 career starts he has won nine races and missed the money just five times. One of the latter was his last race, a fourth-place finish in a high-level optional allowance on the turf at Churchill Downs in early November. He tends to be close to the pace or right out front, and horses coming from farther off the pace have had the advantage the first two weeks of the current meet, but his affinity for the track may outweigh all other considerations. Tom Drury trains.

Stately Victor has raced steadily since his win in the Blue Grass Stakes at Keeneland but has won just once in the meantime, the Ontario Derby at Woodbine in September. Both wins came on Polytrack. He has been racing for higher stakes than the Prairie Bayou however, and against sterling company, and while he was 10th after a poor start last out in the Grade 1 Clark at Churchill, he was a solid third behind Successful Dan two starts back in the Grade 2 Fayette Stakes at Keeneland. The return to Polytrack for the Prairie Bayou and his ability to sit off the pace will be in his favor. Michael Baze is set to ride for trainer Mike Maker.

The Prairie Bayou field from the rail out: Ordination (jockey Dean Menagh); Mr Maccool (John McKee); Cursesandblessings (Rafael Mojica Jr.); Your Round (Thomas Pompell); Timeless Fashion; Stream Cat (Florent Geroux); Wealth to Me (Greta Kuntzweiler); L J's Way (Rodney Prescott); Mint Chip (Fabio Arguello Jr.); Hurta (Nelson DeSouza); Stately Victor; and Plutonium (Emanuel Cosme). Get Rich Quick and Dynamite Bob comprise the also-eligible list.

The Prairie Bayou is the ninth of 10 races on Saturday's card, which begins at 1:10pm ET.
