FLORENCE, KY . . . January 19, 2005 . . . The 2nd Annual WEBN Stakes Paddock Party is on the calendar for Saturday, February 5, from noon to 6 p.m. at Turfway Park.
The Paddock Party celebrates the day’s $50,000 WEBN Stakes, the second of three local prep races for the $500,000 Lane’s End Stakes in March, itself an early prep for the Kentucky Derby. Cincinnati’s WEBN radio station has sponsored the one-mile WEBN Stakes since 2002.
Admission to the Paddock Party is by ticket only. Tickets are free but available only via giveaways both on-air and at Turfway Park on Fridays during live racing. About 500 tickets will be given away in advance. Another 50 or so tickets will be given away at random at the track on the day of the party.
Paddock Party-ers will enjoy free food, live music, games, prizes, and giveaways. For $5, partygoers can purchase a collectible mug that entitles them to special prices all afternoon on refills of Budweiser, Bud Light, and Coca-Cola products. WEBN personalities will be on hand throughout the day and Turfway Park staffers will be available to help novice handicappers learn the basics of picking a winner.
Live racing at Turfway begins at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday through Friday. First post on WEBN Stakes Day and every Saturday and Sunday is 1:10 p.m.
