Turfway hires one angry guy

FLORENCE, KY . . . July 31, 2003 . . . Turfway Park has hired radio talk-show host and former Kentucky Post reporter Richard Skinner as its relationship marketing manager, announced Brian Gardner, director of the racetrack’s Sales and Marketing Department. Working within that department, Skinner will oversee Turfway’s FasTrack Rewards, a members-only loyalty program, and serve as the go-to contact for the racetrack’s clientele. He signed on with the track on July 30, replacing Ed Meyer.

Skinner will continue as co-host of “Two Angry Guys,” a call-in radio sports show heard locally from 6 to 10 a.m. on Cincinnati’s 1360 Homer, The Sports Animal.

In addition to his radio career, Skinner covered sports for the Kentucky Post for 12 years, most recently handling the University of Kentucky football and basketball beats. A Northern Kentucky native, he has been at home at Turfway Park since its days as Latonia and is a longtime Thoroughbred racing fan.

Turfway also has added Sherry Pinson to its Sales and Marketing Department. The Cincinnati native joined the staff as media relations manager on July 23, taking on the role left vacant by Jennifer Haas.

A writer and editor, Pinson brings to Turfway a passion for the Sport of Kings and skills honed during two decades in corporate communications and marketing. She has been self-employed as a freelance writer for the past five years and regularly interviews racing personalities for Kids to the Cup, a non-profit group dedicated to developing young racing fans. Among her other clients are local, national, and international corporations involved in missions, publishing, computer consulting, service, and other industries.
