FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 3
Race 1
JOE SIX PACK drops back to the bottom and has a solid record over the Turfway strip. Give him a slight edge in a well matched race. TIME TO GETIT woke up last out and figures to be a contender at this level. CHOCHO JR. also takes the class drop and has to be considered.
Race 2
BE A PRINCE needed his last race at Beulah and moves back to his favorite surface tonight. He can spring the mild upset with Prescott picking up the mount. CRIMSON CLAY is still eligible for non-winners of three but comes off two solid races and is the one to beat. BAD BIG AL is a solid threat.
Race 3
ALIGNED comes off a decent effort and Jackie Christenson's horses are running well right now. Give this one the edge in a weak bottom claimer. LIGHTNINGNTHUNDER figures to be the one to beat. BROKEN TANGO drops back to the bottom and is a contender.
Race 4
SOME KINDA TROUBLE was no match for Prince Teton last out but was clearly second best in that one. He is proven at the distance and looks like a winner with Lebron aboard. CANDY RUN moves up in class after back-to-back wins. He should be in good position throughout and Dale Romans is having an excellent meet. DOUBLEFOUR ran well last out and is a contender.
Race 5
BEAUCHAMP VICEROY broke poorly last out but a better start would make him tough to beat in this one. POINTMAN TALKIN just missed last out and can't be left out of the gimmicks. JEFF THE CLOCKER is a contender in a solid field of bottom claimers.
Race 6
SCARIFF ISLAND and MONASHEE GOLD run coupled for Dale Romans and either one is capable of winning in here. H.J. ARVIN prefers the dirt but he drops to the bottom and has to be respected. HOPPING HOLLY fits with these.
Race 7
NACONA had some trouble in his last race and appears to be in a good spot to get his maiden win with McKee back aboard for Bill Connelly. GO BRAY BOO beat the top pick back in December and ran evenly last out. He is the one to beat. RAISE A LIL CAIN drops in class and has the speed to be dangerous.
Race 8
WILDERNESS lost all chance last out when he had to check behind a wall of horses and dropped back to dead last in the turn. He finished well in that one and can be expected to run much better tonight. MAGIC MAN comes off a game win and is the one to beat with Julio Felix in the irons. TEEBERRY could add value to the gimmicks.
Race 9
IRREVERENT debuts for leading trainer Mike Maker off of a series of solid works. He figures to be ready to go tonight. SMALL TOKEN has good early speed and gets blinkers for the first time. ONE WISH will move forward off of his debut and is a contender.
Race 10
FAISAL PRINCE didn't show much last out but has posted a couple of bullet works since that start. He gets blinkers for the first time and has run well over this track in the past. ST. MAXIMUS GATO has plenty of back class and probably needed his races at Hawthorne after a long layoff. He is the one to beat. BECKY'S KITTEN has been running poorly but has to be respected.
Race 11
CLASS READY takes a huge class drop, which isn't a good sign, but this is a weak field and anything close to his best makes him a winner. VICTORY WITH HONOR is the one to beat. CHARMING DEAL rates a chance.
Race 12
FIVE AND FIVE has been a beaten favorite in four of his five races but still looks best against these bottom maidens. CASTLE STORM figures to be the one to beat. IAM A BILLIONAIRE is a contender.
SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 4
Race 1
FREE AFRICA lost all chance last out when his saddle slipped and the rider lost his irons in the first turn. He drops in class today and his best makes him a winner at this level. STEEL THE REWARD also takes the class drop and will be running at the end. KEYSTROKE has only had one race and figures to improve.
Race 2
TOP SMOOCHER comes off a game front-running score. There is more early speed in against her today but she still looks best for hot trainer Shawn Murphy. KLEA didn't fire last out but is capable of a much better performance in here. QUEEN OF SCIOITO is good right now and likes this track.
Race 3
TETON MOTEL drops in class and has the speed to be on or near the lead throughout. He can win this one with Roman back aboard. SIR SHAUN was no match for a runaway winner last out but figures to be the one to beat today. POWER WOW is an invader from Hawthorne who has to be respected.
Race 4
GRAND PIANO MAN was overmatched last out but drops back in against non-winners of three today. He is capable of beating this bunch with his best effort. GHOST TIME has won back-to-back races since dropping to the bottom and figures to be tough with Lebron up. ABOVE THE CURVE is a contender.
Race 5
COLLYNS L ran poorly at Beulah but may not have cared for the sloppy track. She looks best on the class drop. PLAIN AND SIMPLE cuts back to a sprint distance and Lebron picks up the mount. FUTURE PROMISE is a definite contender.
Race 6
DANGEROUS DREAM was no match for a front-running winner last out but was well clear of the rest of the field in that one. She figures to be in good position right off the early lead and rates the slight edge over Open Water in a close call. OPEN WATER was extremely impressive breaking her maiden despite a very wide trip. Any improvement on that one makes her very dangerous. RAHY GIRL looks best of the rest.
Race 7
OCTOBER SONG just missed last out at this level and Orlando Mojica picks up the mount today. Give her the slight edge in a well matched field. BRUSHFIREFAIRYTALE drops in for a tag for the first time and is the one to beat. EJAY also takes the class drop.
Race 8
J. PA has been a steady performer in Chicago and the Hawthorne shippers are running well over this surface. He ran well over the Arlington strip last year and rates the edge in this starter allowance test. E T GO hooked some tough company in his last two and has the speed to be dangerous. SORDISA fits with these.
Race 9
CIRCUS CLOWN ran evenly to finish fourth in the Turfway Prevue and looks like a solid bet to win as he drops back in against maidens this afternoon. TRADEWATEER and DANCE IDOL are both runners from the Maker barn who always have to be respected.
Race 10: The WEBN Stakes
PHANTOM FURY wasn't asked for run when he drew off to win by 10 widening lengths in his first try around two turns. He will have to contend with a much tougher field today but the way he won suggested that he is capable of better. Give him the edge. MR. PRANKSTER was impressive winning the Turfway Prevue and a recent bullet work indicates that Maker will have him ready for another solid performance this afternoon. MAGICAL SEASON is also trained by Maker. He closed well to finish second to his stablemate last out and Lebron is back aboard.
Race 11
LORENZO'S FOREST rates the slight edge in this maiden claimer. INFILTRATE finished right behind the top pick last out and gets blinkers for the first time. KIRGHIZ is a contender.
